learn how to sew a bra/corset dress with free downloadable sewing pattern.
This is not all that complicated. It’s a practice makes perfection kind of thing. Keep drafting, keep cutting and with time you get the technique.
I task my brain daily; I try new pattern techniques; I watch sewing videos and I read pattern making books. I try updating my patterns. I tweaks patterns, turn them to something different and unique. What I’m trying to say is that I’m in the habit of constantly and continuously perfecting my art of sewing with sewing videos, sewing books, ebooks, and sewing blogs.
When I self-learned how to cut a new pattern, I do it twice to get a hang of it. Like this bra dress, I made it three times, one for a client and two for me. I used a sleeves on the first two I made, nothing fancy, just an old off-shoulder sleeves and the other sleeveless. Both came out great.
There is nothing to drafting this pattern, it’s as easy as making a shift dress. It’s the sewing that you have to look out for. It has a lot of curvy sewing and you have to sew based on your sewing allowance especially the bra cup otherwise, it will look crooked.
The top pieces could be confusing, so the need to label them for easy identification. The bra pieces look the same, using word or words to identify them is a smart move.
I made a downloadable pattern in my size i.e. UK size 10. The pattern should be arranged in 3 columns, taped together before cutting. It is advisable you first cut out the bra before the body. Cut out the top from the waist line, because there is a joinder. The style requires you join the top to the bottom at the waist. The pattern is my perfect size, therefore sewing allowance is required for the joinders i.e. all the pieces that required to be joined together needs a half inch sewing allowance.
Lining is important in sewing this style, In addition, I used a pad to give a bra feel to the bra cup, which is necessary when you don’t want to wear your corset dress with a bra.
The layout for this pattern is for international A4 paper width 8.27, height 11.69
The patterns are numbered and to be arranged in three columns.
seam allowance required.
The pattern should be cut in fold
