Salut! How are you all doing today? I hope great. I’m free today and I get to do more motifs for my new lace project. I’m still posting old sewing tutorials. I’m learning and preparing myself for better projects and clearer pictures that I can share. I haven’t made anything new, just sharing old sewing project.
This is an ideal design for a plus size woman. The dress is not revealing and the fabric is perfect for this design. I used a thick stretched fabric which helps hold the body firmly. The second half wrap front is there to cover the tummy size. The dress is elegant and you can wear it to a dinner party or a wedding. I made the dress for my mom and it fits my sister perfectly. My mom is a size 22 and my sister is a size 24.

How I wish my pictures were clearer. They are blurry and so much noise. I know I can do better; I will do better. The pictures were taken randomly without professional touch.
This dress is very pretty; the pop of color on the fabric makes the design more formal and relaxed. That’s what I wanted; I wanted a design that will complement the fabric. The dress is well tailored than it appeared on the picture.
I’m not going to create a pattern for this dress; I already have a pattern similar to this dress, that’s the triangle cutout back maxi dress pattern. The first thing you need to do is download the pattern and then manipulate the pattern by adding few details.

I made my first blog video today; I didn’t talk much. It’s a little demonstration on how to digitize your sewing pattern with adobe illustrator. If you don’t know how to manually draft a pattern, this post might not be helpful to you.
There are two methods;
The first method is to manually draft your pattern; you can either scan your pattern or take a clear picture of it. Open your adobe illustrator, place your photographed pattern and trace.
I’m typing and laughing right now; I remembered after making this Abaya gown for my mom, I refused to give her. The gown fit me well, even though I made it with her measurement. It’s a free gown. I later gave it to her after rocking it for that day. Lol! She was happy with what I made for her; you can tell from the picture that it fit her body well.
I’m so in love with this dress; I like my choice of fabric. The dress accentuates my curves perfectly. I have made something like that, but short length; I needed a longer length so that I can wear it to church or casual hang out with friends. It’s easy to make; It took me approximately three hours to make including drafting the patterns.
Follow my easy step by step tutorial below to make your own simple sexy dress. I will make the pattern available on my next post and link it to this post.
